About us

Horne Hydraulics CC was initially started in 1974 and was run by 3 partners.  The current CEO, Andre du Preez bought out the company in 2004 and the company was run under his leadership since that day.  Horne Hydraulics is situated at 7 Bronze Rd, Spartan X16, Kempton Park, Gauteng from which all operations are conducted; in other words, office, sales, manufacturing, service, testing, stores and training.

In 2009 the Horne Group expanded and opened Horne Conveyance Safety in Canada which is managed by Steve Hill.  Horne Conveyance Safety looks after the Canadian, North American and South American markets.  Horne Conveyance Safety has grown to a 2 million US$/year company and is still growing.  Horne SA has grown from 8 million ZAR/year to 35 million ZAR/year over the last several years.

The South African company, Horne Hydraulics is now trading as Horne SA under the banner of the Horne Group.

Horne SA manufactures all its local products in its factory situated in Spartan, Kemptonpark with the exception of 3 products which is partially imported and partially manufactured at the factory.

Horne SA boasts testing facilities for several of its products.  Where testing cannot be done in the factory it is carried out at the CSIR.

Products

Products sold at Horne SA which are mainly for the South African and Southern African market are as follows;

  • Technogrid,
  • Levelok
  • Tecnopost.

These 3 products  are patented and owned by Andre du Preez.  They are 100% locally manufactured which includes the hydraulic powerpacks.

Other products sold are;

  • GANTRAIL (Rail fastening systems) which is partly imported and partly locally manufactured.
  • OLEO Buffers which are imported from the UK.  All testing and services are done locally at the Spartan factory and only Horne SA is accredited to maintain, repair and service OLEO buffers in Southern Africa.
  • WEFORMA Hydraulic buffers which are completely imported from Germany.  Horne SA is in the process of arranging testing and repair facilities in South Africa for the Southern African market.

Horne SA also boasts the ISO 9001:2008 quality accreditation as Horne complies to the Occupational Health and Safety Standards.

Please note that all products mentioned above are offered to the  South African and Southern African markets, but only Tecnogrid, Technopost , Levelok systems and Weforma are offered to the Canadian and American markets.

Horne boasts a range of blue chip customers, mainly in the mining industry.  Markets that Horne has exported to in the past are Canada, Mongolia and Mexico, including most of Southern Africa too.

Horne SA boasts a staff compliment of 32 people in South Africa and 3 in Canada.
