Levelok Emergency Braking System

Levelok chairing, or holding, systems have been in world-wide use for 30 years – overcoming the challenges caused by the stretch in the hoist rope when loading men, material or ore into mine conveyances.

This system can easily be adapted to act as emergency brake in the event of a rope failure / slack rope condition.

Emergency braking under slack rope conditions is easily added to a standard cage holding system. This is achieved by incorporating an accumulator into the system.

The accumulator is kept charged at working pressure each time the Levelok chairing system is used.

Should the conditions for an emergency situation be met, oil is automatically released from the accumulator, thus activating the Levelok clamps, which then grip onto the shaft guides in a controlled manner. The deceleration rate is adjusted according to the individual customer's requirements.

The Levelok emergency braking system provides a safe, controlled deceleration with both steel and timber guides.

A stand alone emergency braking system, apart from the chairing function, is also available.
